The Victims Compensation Program, created by PA Act 139 of July 1976, was established to assist victims who have suffered a financial loss as the direct result of a crime.
It is imperative that the victim of a sexual assault or a violent crime seek medical attention. Not only must the victim receive the necessary treatment to counteract the offense, but photos and forensic evidence must be collected for the purpose of prosecution.
The reporting of a sexual assault or any other violent crime, the legal process and the anticipation and participation in a trial are bewildering and frightening prospects for a victim.
The Crime Victims’ Center of Fayette County is the only approved and licensed agency in Fayette County to provide these programs.
Professional staff members of the Crime Victims’ Center are available to speak to community groups, civic and service organizations concerning the services and programs we offer.
We offer professional trainings and workshops for direct service providers, teachers, law enforcement, clergy, medical and legal professionals and other social service agencies.
